A brief aligns the direction before implementation

AI agents can move rapidly from a request to working code. If the product priority is unclear, however, they may default to a generic or overbuilt solution. A product brief gives them a shared decision framework.

Start with the change a user should experience

Write the user outcome before describing screens or components. For example, 'see scattered event information in one place and decide what to do next' explains more than 'build a list screen.' This core value should guide the data model, flow, and acceptance criteria.

Separate the MVP from Phase 2 and explain why

The brief should say not only what to build now, but also what not to build yet. This keeps implementation focused and makes later decisions easier.

Write acceptance criteria as user actions
